Mohs micrographic surgery is a specialized technique for removing skin cancer, with the highest reported cure rate of any available treatment. It's typically recommended for cancers that are large, recurrent, or aggressive, and for tumors located in areas like the nose, ears, eyelids, lips, hairline, hands, feet, and genitals, where preserving healthy tissue matters most.
Mohs surgery is performed in our office, with our own surgical and laboratory facilities, under local anesthesia.

Dr. Michael Wangia is board-certified in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery and in Dermatopathology, and is a Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery. His training spans tumor pathology, complex tumor locations, and wound reconstruction.

A Proven Technique
Developed in the 1930s by Dr. Frederic Mohs at the University of Wisconsin, Mohs surgery is now practiced worldwide. Unlike other skin cancer treatments, Mohs allows for immediate, complete microscopic examination of the removed tissue during the procedure itself, so every "root" and extension of the cancer can be located and removed.
